Coming of Kings will focus on leadership development, college preparation and work readiness,  The programs will build problem solving skills, presentation skills, and social skills.  The young men will learn how to organize and plan project and learning activities.  Their participation will build confidence and give them a sense of responsibility.  We will set goals for our future so everyone will have their own mission to accomplish.

Teaching/Mentoring

Teaching or mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, such as dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to adulthood.  Close and supportive mentor and youth relationships are important to life skills success.  Coming of Kings will prepare young men for adulthood.  We will teach them how to apply themselves in preparation for jobs, education opportunities, and apprenticeships. This includes teaching them how to act, dress, and instilling knowledge in them to be successful leaders. 

Chess Game

Playing Chess

Chess is an effective teaching tool that equally challenge the minds of youths and adults.  It can teach youth the important of planning and the consequences of decisions.  It can further teach how to concentrate, how to win and lose gracefully, how to think logically and efficiently, and how to make tough and abstract decisions. The young men will play chess games and compete with both mentors and mentees to build confidence.

Social Learning and Cultural Awareness

Social learning emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the behaviors attitudes, emotional reactions of others.  Our mentors will demonstrate social thinking concepts, share relevant stories from his or her own life experience, and teach simple thinking lessons. We will establish relationships that are emotionally engage through trust, empathy, and mutuality to produce social and emotional  growth in youth.  Young men will improve they relationship with peers, parents, and other adults as well as their overall well-being and success in life
